PROJECT DESCRIPTION

More than a book, Water Planet ® is an Environmental Educational Project.

More than an Environmental Educational Project is a cosmogonic proposal which attires to the roots of American indigenous ancestral knowledge in order to see and rethink the World, understanding that today’s environmental crisis has its origin in a cultural problem, the way we see the World and the way we have established our relationship with it, throughout an anthropocentric vision.

It comes, too, from a World based upon a materialistic model, consumption society which just sees in the nature a provider of natural resources, with an infinite capacity for the absorption of all kinds of pollutants, which is the only thing we return in gratitude.

Along 165 pages of this great format book (24x31 cm) the author makes a path throw the American continent, showing in 200 full colored pictures the most beautiful creation places of different indigenous cultures, capturing not only their magical water sources, but exploring in their traditions, the wisdom of cosmogonic myths which gives explanation to the World.

The Lioness  Lagoon – Alvaro H. Pescador R. 1989.  Fresh water bodies like this disappears from the Andinean topography during the summer or when “El Niño” arrives  from the Pacific. Sometimes they are never conformed again, we lost them for ever.  Beyond the Lagoon we see the Quindio Volcano in Colombia. Due to the global warming there is not snow over this mountain any more and the surface of this standing water is decreasing constantly.

The American Indians considered they belonged to the Water. Because of that, for them, fresh water sources were sacred.

The Author’s purpose is not  only to generate conscience about the situation we are going throw: during the twentieth century we lost half of the fresh water bodies of our planet. What reminds is either polluted, or threatened due to deforestation processes and the global warming.

Acquiring this book you will be contributing with a Conservation Ecological Project: the planting of a tree throw the Green Leaves Program of the CCB (Bogotá Commerce Chamber). The Green Leaves Program has an Andinean conservation Project at the low basin of the Bogotá River where native trees are being plant Cámara de Comercio de Bogotá al Programa de Hojas Verdes de la CCB.

Each bonus has a cost of $ 61.000 pesos (U$ 28) for planting the tree and taking care of it. It means the utilities of the project are reinvested in the Planet because our purpose is to preserve live sources, by creating and maintaining CO2 catchers in the forest, while the trees sustain biodiversity and act as hydrological regulators as well .Let us plant a tree to your name, enjoy the reading of the book and help the planet.

Each tree will be plant in Colombia to your name or the one of your institution as sponsor of the project The process will be audited by the University Javeriana Ecological Association La Asociación de Ecólogos Javerianos   in Bogota.  So join  life and  water  bound to earth: Adopt this book, plant a tree and be part of the history.
